We started Wayward Gear because we couldn't find what we needed, either.
Every product on this site exists because at some point, one of us was standing in a driveway, a campsite, or a marina, needing a part we couldn't find anywhere that didn't feel like a gamble. Too many outdoor and RV retailers make you choose between a huge, unreliable catalog and a small, trustworthy one. We wanted both, so we built it.
Wayward Gear is a DBA of Cary Pcakaging Depot, LLC based in Cary, North Carolina, and run by people who actually use this gear. We've replaced our own trailer wiring at 9pm before a trip. We've torn apart a winch mount to figure out why it wasn't sitting right. We've been the ones combing through fitment charts trying to make sure a part will actually work before we hit "buy." That's the standard we hold every product to before it goes on this site.
Why we do this
We believe getting outside shouldn't require an engineering degree or a leap of faith. If you're outfitting an RV for full-time living, building out a rig for overlanding, upgrading your truck, or keeping a boat running right, you deserve a supplier who's done their homework; with honest descriptions, and a straight answer when something isn't the right fit for your setup.
We're not the biggest outdoor retailer out there, and we're not trying to be everything to everyone. We'd rather carry gear we'd put on our own vehicles and stand behind it than pad a catalog with parts we don't trust.
What that means for you
- Real people, real support. If something's wrong with your order or you're not sure a part is right for your rig, you'll reach someone who understands the gear, not a script.
- No-drama returns. 30 days, plain and simple, because we know sometimes the part just isn't right and that shouldn't be a fight.
- We're still building. New categories, better guides, and a bigger catalog are coming because we're out there using this stuff too, and we keep finding gaps we want to fill.
